Granite Hills Wind Farm will work with The Nimmitabel Advancement Group (NAG) to provide facilities to enhance Nimmitabel township while also supporting the Nimmitabel Public School through education in the greening of school facilities.

From the first stage of the development phase, Granite Hills Wind Farm has contracted regional consultants, scientists, and company representatives who are together bringing business to Nimmitabel while working for the advancement and well-being of the Project.

During the construction phase of the wind farm, which is planned for 2018, the construction team will be contracted locally, creating up to 150 jobs.

The operational phase of the wind farm will trigger the creation of up to 8-10 permanent jobs for the local community.

Public meetings and information

The Nimmitabel Advancement Group arranged for Granite Hills to present the wind farm project at their meeting on 16 February. About 30 residents attended the meeting and to also hear about the proposed wind farm project. Many questions were asked and also as to how Granite Hills could support Nimmitabel. Before the meeting NAG arranged the distribution of 300 information flyers to the local community.

The following community meetings were held in Nimmitabel on the 27.04.2017 and 25.05.2017. The next community meeting will be held on 13.07.2017 in Nimmitabel.

Community Consultative Committee

Expressions of interest are being sought for voluntary community members of a CCC for Granite Hills Wind Farm. Up to 7 positions are available for community representatives. Applications can be made through this Application Form.
The purpose of the consultative committee is to provide a forum for discussion between representatives of Granite Hills WF, the community, council and other stakeholders on issues directly relating to the assessment, the construction and the operation of the Granite Hills Wind Farm.
Ongoing community relations are also an important function of the committee. It is anticipated that the CCC will meet regularly for the life of the wind farm.

Committee members will be appointed as individuals and will not be expected to represent specific organisations. Candidates will be selected to allow a broad cross section of views to be brought to the committee.
For more details on the CCC process and role of members please refer to the Draft Community Consultative Committee Guidelines, February 2017 (NSW DPE).

The main selection criteria for CCC members are:

  • Experience and confidence in providing feedback to the community and relevant stakeholder groups.
  • Resident in the local area with a broad awareness and knowledge of local issues.
